I am going to root for the Twinkies

Can throw a strike (make that three, actually) on a baseball field? If so you can still win $1 million. That's the prize money Hostess is dangling as part of an online "Steeerike ... It Rich!" sweepstakes program, which began this week.

Hostess will randomly select one consumer, after June 26, to travel to Kansas City and enjoy a moment of fame on the Kansas City Royals' baseball field at Kauffman Stadium. Throw no strikes and you get $5,000. One strike: $10,000. Two: $15,000. Three and you're outta there with a cool $1 million.

Wouldn't you pick a team with a little more appeal than KC? Will this get you off the couch and buy a hostess product?

YES, Although I can throw a baseball. But I think the idea is great and would be entertaining for viewers to watch. Also, They need to ise a team people actually would watch arounf the nation. Maybe the Yankees or some ther team people can relate to not just the people in Kansas City.

No this would not make me get off the couch to buy a hostess product because the chances to get picked for throwing a baseball is slim to none. Especially if they are doing it in KC. I cant stand hostess products anyway, this deal is complete garbage.

No, this would'nt get me off the couch to buy a hostess product because chances are very slim and going against the major leagues on a strike would be very difficult, maybe 1-1000000000, even choosing at random, not all people can throw from the pitchers mound. Also many can not throw that fast to even stand a chance against a pro unless they slip and miss accidently.

No this is a bad marketing plan because first of all it's the KC Royals, which no one cares about besides local residents. Secondly, it's only one consumer doing it so there will be only one result. Lastly, people that see it probably won't remember it was Hostess who put on the event in the first place and someone else throwing for money would not get me to buy a Twinkie.

This is not a good marketing idea from hostess. KC Royals are not a strong team first of all so the motivation isn't there. The chances of being chosen are extremely slim for a consumer. Since they only pick one consumer, the consumer will realize that they have a very low chance of being selected. This idea would be better if they were to select a better team and a couple more people for the sweepstakes.

No, I dont feel that this would work because the people that apply have a very slim chance to getting picked. Also I would chose a better known team, because when you hear baseball you dont think Kansas City. I feel that this wouldn't work.

This will not make me go and buy hostess products. I think that not many people will get up and go buy hostess because they know that they dont have a good chance to win and know that it is not easy to throw a major league strike. Also there are some people that dont like hostess products or know the KC Royals. One thing that I think would help is if they had a better team like the Yankees that have lots of fans

This wouldn't get me off the couch because only 1 person in the nation gets a chance? Why even try? They are also promoting the Kansas City field which is in the middle of nowhere so you couldn't even consider it a vacation really. Rather, then having them fly you out to California or New York like other people have mentioned for the Yankees then they could advertise the vacation aspect of it too. They need to include more people as well at least have the winner bring another person who would want to go by themselves? This doesn't seem like a well planned out promotional plan.

The chances are very slim for me to be picked to throw a ball. And i dont think that KC was the best choice, they should have chosen boston or new york.

For people that watch baseball, KC isn't a big team everyone would try to compete for. And for people that don't watch or don't care about baseball, why would they care for this at all what so ever? Maybe for the possible $1 million dollars, but only 1 person out of the whole entire population... I wouldn't think the chances of it being me was high, I never do with these type of things. I think this was a bad marketing idea because most people won't care, or they'll say the chances of it being me...there isn't one. I know this would not get me off the couch.
