Armani has partnered with Samsung to create a luxury cell phone. The cell phone was created to match/compliment Armani suits and will cost over $1,000. Read the entire article here.

Was this an idea by Giorgio Armani himself or do you think this was a change implemented by the new, younger senior managers?

The Armani phone is equipped with a touch screen, Windows 6.5, and GPS navigation is it worth such a high price, simply to be fashionable? Isn't a phone, just a phone?

Will this make people look at and treat their electronic devices differently now? Do you think people will move toward having a phone for every outfit/day? Etc.

In my opinion, I think that this change was more the idea of the younger senior managers instead of Armani. Giorgio Armani I'm guessing is more interested in his fashion line, and is extremely busy just with that, when would he have time to come up with this new idea? The price of the phone in my opinion is rediculous. Most of the add ons of this phone can be found in most other phones at verizon, sprint, etc. so what makes this so special? It's the name that comes with such a high price. Even with clothes, most customers will pay extra for the name. Now i'm not completely sure, but i've heard stories that some of the same people that work on Juicy Couture work for Candies at kohls, and Juicy clothes are 3 times as expensive. Most will pay just for the name attached, like they will for the Armani phone vs. a regular Verizon phone. Now I don't think that it will go as far as a new phone for each outfit, but it deffinatly makes people view their phones differently. With this article, i feel like it makes a phone more of a fashion statement than just a piece of technology. Making phones more "fashion forward" i believe will start to come up more like with the new Georgio Armani phone in this article.

I think that this phone is the dumbest thing ever. The price that he has it set it is way to high for a phone. The only reason people would buy it would be for the name that goes with it. If any other person had come out with the phone at that price they would think that person was crazy. But on the other hand it does show that people are beginning to think of their phone differently than what it used to be. Over time I do believe the phone will become more of a fashion statement than anything else.
