Hey You!!!! Park it!!!

In Boston, Gary Washburn noted the NBA in a memo has "warned teams about players standing up in the bench area during games." Players often "block the view of fans, many of whom are season ticket-holders paying premium prices for seats." To "appease these fans and reduce banter between players and premium seat-holders, the league has warned players about standing" (BOSTON GLOBE, 10/4). Boston Globe columnist Bob Ryan said, "This has gotten to be a joke. These big guys are blocking the views of people who are paying not $50 or $75, but hundreds of dollars” ("PTI," ESPN, 10/2).

Should the NBA get in the way of the game? What could teams do to increase the value of those premium tickets besides telling players when to stand?

I completely agree with NBA in the sense that these fans have paid a fortune to sit in the those particular seats. What's the use of being at a game and purchasing such expensive tickets if ultimately all you do is look at the back of some 7'footers head the whole time. If the players don't want to sit then ticket prices should decrease since the utility of those seats are lower than than cost these fans are paying for them. Those players some of which don't even enter the games get paid millions to SIT ON THE BENCH. At the end of the day these players wouldn't get a dime without the fans so why not satisfy the fans.

I think that its rediculous that this would be an issue. Unless the players are constantly standing just to be annoying this should not be a problem. People who are buying these seats are celeberties who rather be seen at the game than enjoy the game. And since when is it a foul for a player to be enthusiastic at his proffesion? Why can't a player stand up in excitment for his team? I can see how the fans could be bothered at this but if it is really a problem stand on your seat or say something, you could talk to proffesional nba player and that could be worth it.
